Phoenix, AZ (September 22). It's the state's newest and fastest growing all-girl Roller Derby League, the Arizona Derby Dames who are back with a fantastic line-up. In September the Brutal Beauties continued their undefeated in 2007 record with a victory against the Schoolyard Scrappers. The Brutal Beauties will automatically advance to the November 17th Championships. In October its Round Two of the playoffs with the second seeded Bombshells taking on the third seeded Coffin Draggers.
The Castle Sports Club is located at 11420 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85029-3604 (602-331-2582). Doors will open at 7.00 p.m. with the bout starting at 8.00 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at the following locations: Bookmans, Cage World, My Ruka's Garage, Eastside Records, DentBob, Drawn to Comics and the Castle Sports Club. Tickets will be $10 the night of the bout. EMT's receive free admission as well as children under 12.
The prettiest girls in the morgue, "The Coffin Draggers" will be out in true Halloween spirit on October 13th to fend off the Bombshells. The last time these two terrors met on the rink the Bombshells were victorious by a close 14 point spread. Fresh Meat "Forbid N Fruit" will be out in full force for her first game as a Coffin Dragger as will Mount Saint Melons, a new recruit for the Bombshells. Whatever the outcome is, the winning team will automatically advance to the Championship against the Brutal Beauties and will be one step closer to receiving the coveted Arizona Derby Dames Championship trophy. Halftime music will be provided by local party-band "No Good".
To add to the festivities concessions will be available, and AZ Derby Dames merchandise featuring logos and images of your favorite teams and skaters will be on sale. Raffles will be held for derby goodie bags. This will be a family event. Don't miss the party. And after the game follow the Dames to their official Party venue, Hazelwood's First Place Bar and Grill, on Indian School just east of 36th Street.
The Arizona Derby Dames will be returning to downtown Phoenix for their monthly First Friday Bake sale on Friday October 5th. And who better to be providing the tricks and treats than the Coffin Draggers!
