ARIZONA DERBY DAMES: SUMMER SCHOOL SMASH!

Saturday June 23rd at the Castle Sports Club Phoenix, AZ (May 29). The Champs beat the Vamps in the Arizona Derby Dames latest bout between the Brutal Beauties and the Coffin Draggers. Now it's time for the 2006 Champions, the Brutal Beauties to take on the Leagues newest team, the Schoolyard Scrappers. It's the state's newest and fastest growing all-girl Roller Derby League, the Arizona Derby Dames who are back with a fantastic line-up. These school girls may be used to ruling the playground, but will they be able to fend off the undefeated in '07 Brutal Beauties? It's sure to be a detaining game on Saturday June 23rd.

The Castle Sports Club is located at 11420 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85029-3604 (602-331-2582). Doors will open at 7.00 p.m. with the bout starting at 8.00 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at the following locations: Bookmans, Cage World, My Ruka's Garage, Eastside Records, DentBob, Drawn to Comics and the Castle Sports Club. Tickets will be $10 the night of the bout. EMT's receive free admission as well as children under 12.

On June 23rd it will be a family affair. Through the wonders of Roller Derby two long lost cousins have been reunited and now will face off in the Summer School Smash. Lolo of the Schoolyard Scrappers and Red Rocker of the Brutal Beauties recently discovered that they are long lost cousins. Now they begin a family feud when they tumble on the rink. This game will be a fresh meat fiesta with girls new for the 2007 season paying their Derby dues. Marci de Sade of the Brutal Beauties will be out to prove that she is not to be messed with, when she squares off fellow fresh meat Blue Brawls. This 6 foot power house is a force to be reckoned with on the rink! Entertaining at half time will be Progressive/Metal/Alternative music from "Crushed" whose rockin' rhythms will rock the crowd.

Veteran roller girls Suzy Homewrecker, Joan Threat, All The Way Mae and Prima Donna started the Arizona Derby Dames league in the summer of 2005. These four dames wanted a new all-girl league to take over the world on roller skates. "Some girls are experienced skaters and have skated with other all-girl leagues; some are brand new to the game but now have excellent skills and are ready to compete. Either way it is going to be one hell of a good time" according to Homewrecker.

To add to the festivities concessions will be available, and AZ Derby Dames merchandise featuring logos and images of your favorite teams and skaters will be on sale. Raffles will be held for derby goodie bags. This will be a family event. Don't miss the party. And after the game follow the Dames to their official Party venue, Hazelwood's First Place Bar and Grill, on Indian School just east of 36th Street. The Arizona Derby Dames will be baking and displaying their goods at their monthly First Friday Bake sale Friday June 1st in front of Bikini Lounge on Grand Avenue. This month the Coffin Draggers will be running the show with an exquisite selection of muffins, brownies and delights that will tempt anyone off their diet!
