FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 11th 2006 ARIZONA DERBY DAMES DISH UP THE EXCITEMENT WITH THEIR SECOND GAME JULY 21ST AT THE CASTLE SPORTS CLUB Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Derby Dames will deliver another serving of all-girl Roller Derby with the debut of their Rollercon Travel Team the Lady Lux versus the Live Fast Roller Girls on July 21st, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at The Castle Sports Club. This game is a warm up for the Dame’s highly anticipated game at Rollercon in Las Vegas on July 29th against Tampa’s Derby Darlin’s. Rollercon is a Roller Derby convention and competition that draws international and national teams in 9 days of fierce competition under the blazing Las Vegas heat. It will be the Dames first appearance at the competition and they hope to make an impression. The Castle Sports Club is located at 11420 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85029-3604 (602-331-2582). Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the bout starting at 8:00 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at the following locations: Bookmans, Plush Living, My Ruka’s Garage, Cowtown, Eastside Records, Cage World, Rogue West, Incision Tattoo, Rios Distributions and the Castle Sports Club. Tickets will be $10 the night of the bout. On July 21st, the Lady Lux will skate together as a team in preparation for their Rollercon game. The team’s theme is “white-trash” and they will flaunt their gingham and wife-beater tank tops against the Live Fast Roller Girls. The L.F.R.G will put up a great fight against the Lady Lux as they are comprised of veteran and new skaters who have a thing for skating fast and playing hard. For those bad girls who play dirty, the penalty wheel will be spun, winning them such punishments as a Pillow Fight, the much-maligned Magic Marker Mustache, or the dreaded Slap Street (where audience members could win a chance to paddle those skaters who misbehave). Veteran roller girls Suzy Homewrecker, Joan Threat, All The Way Mae and Prima Donna started the Arizona Derby Dames league in the summer of 2005. These four dames wanted a new all-girl league to take over the world on roller skates. “Some girls are experienced skaters and have skated with other all-girl leagues; some are brand new to the game but now have excellent skills and are ready to compete. Either way it is going to be one hell of a good time.” according to Homewrecker. To add to the festivities, two Phoenix bands will be performing, concessions and beer will be available, and AZ Derby Dames merchandise featuring logos and images of your favorite teams and skaters will be on sale. For those tickled by the idea of becoming a Roller Girl there will be a recruiting table, where newbie’s can join the League. Raffles will be held for VIP seats in the middle of the rink, dead center of the action, as well as prize bags. This will be a family event. Don’t miss the party. The next night Saturday July 22nd some of the more daring Dames will debut their Burlesque skills at the “Beyond the Valley of the Dolls” event at the Paper Heart (750 NW Grand Ave, PHX). Join the Dames as they dance and prove that these ladies are as skilled off skates as they are on. More info at www.midnitemoviemamacita.com.
