BOMBSHELLS AND BRUTAL BEAUTIES?
IT’S THE BATTLE OF THE ARIZONA DERBY DAME FEMMES
Saturday September 30th at the Castle Sports Club

Phoenix, AZ – What do you get when you cross World War 2 pin-ups with Beauty Pageant Rejects?  A very pretty mess!  Game four is fast approaching and the Arizona Derby Dames are on a roll.  With record attendance to their previous 3 games, they continue to pave their path in Arizona Roller Derby territory.  This next match promises bumps and bruises a plenty as the Brutal Beauties (Beauty Pageant rejects) take on the Bombshells (World War 2 Pin-ups) on Saturday September 30th at the Castle Sports Club.  The Brutal Beauties are looking to continue their winning streak and make the Bombshells quiver in their skates!

The Castle Sports Club is located at 11420 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85029-3604 (602-331-2582). Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the bout starting at 8:00 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at the following locations: Bookmans, Cage World, My Ruka’s Garage, Cowtown, Eastside Records, Rios Distributions and the Castle Sports Club. Tickets will be $10 the night of the bout.

On September 30th, the Brutal Beauties will compete against the Bombshells for two action-packed periods.  The Brutal Beauties consists wholly of new girls with no experienced skaters, but that doesn’t mean that you can write them off.  They have some of the league’s best jammers and blockers who have learned that you need to play hard to survive!  The Bombshells consist of two of the League’s founders, All the Way Mae and Prima Donna, who are looking to use their experience to outplay the Brutal newcomers.  For those bad girls who play dirty, the penalty wheel will be spun, winning them such punishments as a Pillow Fight, the much-maligned Magic Marker Mustache, or the dreaded Slap Street (where audience members could win a chance to paddle those skaters who misbehave).

Veteran roller girls Suzy Homewrecker, Joan Threat, All The Way Mae and Prima Donna started the Arizona Derby Dames league in the summer of 2005. These four dames wanted a new all-girl league to take over the world on roller skates. “Some girls are experienced skaters and have skated with other all-girl leagues; some are brand new to the game but now have excellent skills and are ready to compete. Either way it is going to be one hell of a good time.” according to Homewrecker.

To add to the festivities, Phoenix band “Nunzilla” will be performing, concessions and beer will be available, and AZ Derby Dames merchandise featuring logos and images of your favorite teams and skaters will be on sale. Raffles will be held for VIP seats in the middle of the rink, dead center of the action, as well as prize bags. This will be a family event. Don’t miss the party.

The Arizona Derby Dames will also be appearing at Cypress Lounge alongside bands, the Green Lady Killers, Asses of Evil and the Dark Hearts in a punk and roller girl celebration.  This Saturday the 26th at 5944 W. Bethany Home Road, feel free to join in the festivities!
