BEAUTY PAGEANT DROP-OUTS VERSUS THE LIVING DEAD,
IT’S GAME 3 FOR THE ARIZONA DERBY DAMES,
ARIZONA’S FASTEST GROWING ALL-GIRL ROLLER DERBY LEAGUE
Saturday August 19 at the Castle Sports Club

Phoenix, AZ – Game three is upon us and the Arizona Derby Dames just keep building momentum.  This next match promises bumps and bruises a plenty as the Brutal Beauties (Beauty Pageant rejects) take on the Coffin Draggers (living dead dolls/zombie ghouls) on Saturday August 19th at the Castle Sports Club.  The Brutal Beauties will be looking to avenge their first game loss to the Coffin Draggers, with their team of rookie’s who are rearing for action.

The Castle Sports Club is located at 11420 North 19th Avenue Phoenix, AZ 85029-3604 (602-331-2582). Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. with the bout starting at 8:00 p.m. Advance tickets can be purchased for $8 at the following locations: Bookmans, Cage World, My Ruka’s Garage, Cowtown, Eastside Records, Rios Distributions and the Castle Sports Club. Tickets will be $10 the night of the bout.

On August 19th, the Brutal Beauties will compete against the Coffin Draggers for three periods.  The Brutal Beauties consists wholly of new girls with no experienced skaters, but that doesn’t mean that you can write them off.  They have some of the league’s best jammers and blockers who have learned that you need to play hard to survive!  The Coffin Draggers has 2 of the League’s most notorious players, Suzy Homewrecker and Joan Threat, which both have legions of fans.  Will the underdogs overcome their ghoulish opponents?  For those bad girls who play dirty, the penalty wheel will be spun, winning them such punishments as a Pillow Fight, the much-maligned Magic Marker Mustache, or the dreaded Slap Street (where audience members could win a chance to paddle those skaters who misbehave).

Veteran roller girls Suzy Homewrecker, Joan Threat, All The Way Mae and Prima Donna started the Arizona Derby Dames league in the summer of 2005. These four dames wanted a new all-girl league to take over the world on roller skates. “Some girls are experienced skaters and have skated with other all-girl leagues; some are brand new to the game but now have excellent skills and are ready to compete. Either way it is going to be one hell of a good time.” according to Homewrecker.

To add to the festivities, two Phoenix bands will be performing, concessions and beer will be available, and AZ Derby Dames merchandise featuring logos and images of your favorite teams and skaters will be on sale. Female illusionist, Miss Mya McKenzie, will perform the National Anthem.  She is a premier drag queen in the Valley of the Sun and supporter of the Derby Dames. Raffles will be held for VIP seats in the middle of the rink, dead center of the action, as well as prize bags. This will be a family event. Don’t miss the party.

The league will be fresh off the hot streets of Las Vegas in their first inter-league bout at Rollercon, the worlds largest Roller Derby Competition and Convention.  The Arizona Derby Dames will skate in the blazing sun against the Charm City Rollergirls from Maryland.  The Dames are used to skating in the heat and hope that this will be an advantage when they play in the parking lot of the Plaza Hotel and Casino on Saturday July 29th.
